An Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested over the weekend on domestic battery charges.

According to OCSO, one of its deputies – identified as James Waters – was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, December 15, in connection with an unspecified domestic violence incident.

Hired in May of 2018, Waters worked in the OCSO Uniform Patrol Division. Following his arrest, he was relieved of all law enforcement duties and reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of his criminal case.

Upon competition of the criminal case, OCSO will then conduct its own internal investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

“I have a zero-tolerance policy toward domestic violence,” said Orange County Sheriff John Mina. “These allegations will be thoroughly investigated and the results will be made public.”

Sheriff Mina added that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is “committed to ensuring that those who serve the community as deputies follow the laws they are responsible to uphold.”
