A 23-year-old convicted felon from Sanford will spend a minimum of six years behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm and selling cocaine near a local playground.

On Tuesday, December 17, U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that San’Drevious Jerome Lane has pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and distributing narcotics in close proximity to a playground.

According to court records, Lane was convicted of felony offenses in 2022, and he was released from the Florida Department of Corrections on April 3, 2024.

Less than two months later, on May 21, 2024, Lane was caught with a firearm in his possession while distributing cocaine in Sanford. Law enforcement officers located two fingerprints on the firearm, and forensic testing revealed that one of those fingerprints belonged to Lane.

As a convicted felon, Lane is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

On June 3, 2024, Lane also sold approximately 28 grams of cocaine to another individual. This transaction took place approximately 800 feet from a playground.

Lane is facing a minimum penalty of six years, up to life, in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place on March 13, 2025.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam J. Nate.

Additionally, this case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, which is a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
