Local firefighters rescued two cats from a Seminole County home on Thursday after a fire ignited in the kitchen.
According to the Seminole County Fire Department, firefighters from SCFD and the Longwood Fire Department responded to a home in Winter Springs on Thursday, January 23, after receiving reports of a fire.
When firefighters arrived at the home, they observed heavy smoke pouring from the front door. They quickly entered the residence and observed that an appliance in the kitchen had caught on fire.
SCFD stated that crews acted quickly and extinguished the flames, containing the fire to the kitchen.
Firefighters found two cats inside the home and safely brought them outside. One of the cats initially required oxygen support, though SCFD said in an update that both cats are “now doing fine.”
There were no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
After conducting an investigation, SCFD officials determined that the fire was caused by an air fryer in the kitchen.
