A head-on collision in Seminole County left one driver dead and another injured on Thursday evening.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, two vehicles – a 2011 Toyota Scion and 2023 Ford Mustang – were traveling on North Street, east of the intersection of Fairview Avenue, at around 6 p.m.

FHP stated that the Toyota was traveling eastbound on North Street while the Ford was heading eastbound on the same roadway.

A trooper noted in the report that for an unknown reason, the Toyota veered into the oncoming lane and into the direct path of the Ford.  As a result, the Toyota’s front section crashed into the front of the Ford.

The driver of the Toyota, a 56-year-old Casselberry woman, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The report stated that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Ford’s driver, a 51-year-old Altamonte Springs man, sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
