While the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, SCFD stated that a majority of the fire appeared in the home’s air handler before extending to the roof.

In addition, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up by a relative to assist the family with their immediate expenses in the aftermath of the fire. As of 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, nearly $11,000 of the $15,000 goal has been raised.
