A man was killed, and another seriously injured, after their pickup truck collided with a tree in Osceola County on Friday night.
The fatal crash occurred on U.S. Highway 441 at around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, June 21, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck was heading southbound on U.S. Highway 441, north of Williams Road, when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.
The driver overcorrected, which caused the pickup truck to veer off the roadway while rotating in a counterclockwise direction. The right side of the vehicle then proceeded to strike a tree.
The driver, a 19-year-old man from Kenansville, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The report stated that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The pickup truck’s sole passenger, a 20-year-old St. Cloud man who was wearing a seatbelt, was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment of serious injuries.
The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
