Seminole County firefighters responded to an Oviedo residence on Saturday evening after a lightning strike sparked a fire.

According to the Seminole County Fire Department, at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, nearly a dozen units were dispatched to a home located on Kimberwicke Circle in Oviedo.

Upon arrival, firefighters soon located a “small smoldering fire” in the attic, and they quickly extinguished the flames.

The fire department stated that the fire was caused by a lightning strike to a dryer vent.

There were no injuries reported.
