A 22-year-old man was killed on Saturday afternoon after he lost control of his car and crashed into a pole in Orange County.
The single-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, near the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Dolores Drive in Pine Hills, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP stated that a 2014 Infinity Q50 was traveling southbound on Pine Hills Road, in the inside lane, at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while approaching the intersection of Dolores Drive.
The vehicle proceeded to veer off the roadway to the right before colliding with a concrete pole on the west shoulder of Pine Hills Road.
The car’s two occupants – a 22-year-old male driver and 22-year-old male passenger, both from Orlando – were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the driver was pronounced deceased. The passenger’s condition was listed in the report as “critical.”
An FHP trooper noted that both of the car’s occupants were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
According to FHP, the accident remains under investigation.
