A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for his alleged involvement in a shooting at a Volusia County residence that wounded a man on Monday.
At around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, November 25, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a house located in the 1900 block of Linville Road in Ormond Beach. Upon arrival, they found a 36-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a grazing would to his head, according to VCSO.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
After launching an investigation, VCSO detectives determined that the victim had been shot during a confrontation with two men who had shown up at the victim’s home to “dispute a personal matter.”
One of those suspects was identified by VCSO as Ormond Beach resident Anthony Pezza. A warrant was issued for Pezza’s arrest, and he was located by law enforcement the following night in Palatka.
Pezza was arrested and transported to Putnam County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is being charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, firing into an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
VCSO stated on social media that an investigation into Monday’s shooting remains “active and ongoing.” No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office.
