Osceola officials celebrated the grand opening of the county’s first splash pad on Monday.
The El Yunque Splash Pad in Buenaventura Lakes is now officially open to the public. Located at the 65th Infantry Veterans Park (301 Buenaventura Blvd), the new pad is modeled after Puerto Rico’s El Yunque National Forest.
The pad features nearly three dozen water splash features, including a large water dump platform, spraying palms, and an alligator.
“When I envisioned this splash pad and shared that dream with staff, I knew we would be creating a special place. But now that I’m standing here in front of the finished product, I can say that it has exceeded my expectations,” said Osceola County Commissioner Viviana Janer.
The splash pad will operate during daylight hours, seven days a week.
