Residents across the area who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian have been approved to apply for disaster food assistance through a federal program.

The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has been approved for residents across the state of Florida who were impacted by Hurricane Ian. The program provides assistance for individuals and families who are not receiving food assistance benefits through the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The program is available to different counties across the state of Florida in phases. Residents of Orange County may apply for pre-registration beginning Monday, October 17. Applications via telephone will be available for applications beginning Thursday, October 20.

Residents of Lake, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia counties may begin applying for the program on Monday, October 24. Applications via telephone will be available beginning Thursday, October 27.
